Every paid visit contributes to our free Awareness Tours for local schools and community groups, helping to spread knowledge about sustainability across the island.

Essential Tour

Step inside the CHAKO workplace and discover how waste is upcycled into authentic, handmade products.

 

During this guided visit, you will walk through our production space and see how waste is collected, cleaned and carefully crafted into new creations by our local artisans. Our guide will explain how we work, why recycling matters in Zanzibar, and how CHAKO creates local employment through sustainable production.

 

After the tour, you are welcome to ask questions and visit our boutique.

Private Maker Session

Experience being part of the CHAKO team and experience our daily life at the workplace from the inside.

 

After a guided introduction to our workplace, you will put on safety gear and work side by side with our artisans. You will learn how recycled bottles are prepared and take part in the glassmaking process yourself. Under careful guidance, you will create your own drinking glass from recycled materials.

 

On this tour you have the time to connect with the CHAKO team, have the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about our impact, and understand how your visit supports sustainable change in Zanzibar. 

 

At the end of the workshop you will receive a special gift as a memory of your experience.
