Karafuu is the Swahili name for Clove.It is the main spice grown on the island. During harvest season, the cloves are dried in the sun and you can smell the aroma in villages around the island. The carving on the lid of our signature jar is inspired by the shape of the clove flower.

Female empowerment

We believe in gender equality and female empowerment. 60% of the Chako artisans are female. Furthermore we focus on unemployed youth and create knowledge.

Upcycled

This product is made out of one bottle from the more than 2 million bottles we collect in one year in Zanzibar.
